I am very proud to announce that the Ohio based Journal of Short Film is set to release Vol.11 of their quarterly DVD compilation, pay attention folks a this one will be close to home as it features 100% Portland made films and videos! Yep, this is their first regionally focused edition and I was honored that they asked me to sign on as an editor for this project as it highlights a ton of PDX's best and brightest (not too mention incredibly resourceful) video and film artists. As we all know a DVD can only hold so much content and while I had a good hand in gathering a bounty to whittle down the fine folks at the Journal eventually came to an agreement upon including a mere 26 shorts (!)
Additionally in conjunction with the Journal of Short Film PDX DVD release on May 20th there will be a NW Tracking screening at the Whitsell Theatre on May 28th @7 PM, and I hope you can make it out - did I mention that there will be an after party at the incredibly cozy environs of Valentine's (they have a bar and great food!) afterwards and that up and coming acapella group The Repair will be playing a set and that DJ Bird will be on deck spinning some tunes as well? No? Well please consider yourself invited and come out and celebrate the release of this fine digital harvest of PDX made and bred media and come party down with us!
With Love,
Karl Lind
Save these dates and remember this info:
on May 20th the Journal of Short Film Vol.11 "PDX edition" hits the streets and I'd like to mention that you should be able to find copies locally at Reading Frenzy, which if you didn't know carries a ton of cool independently produced media including art books, zines and DVDs.
